The story follows Luo Fei, a young adult in her 30s who, after years of living in the West, returns to her childhood home in Shanglin, an Eastern coastal city, determined to save it from demolition.
To her surprise, the once-tight-knit community is falling apart under the impact of the rapidly developing city of a developing country.
The seven-day journey explores her hopes, doubts and darkest fear, as she makes life-changing choices and discovers her family's secrets.
If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do. This is a story about how to say goodbyes.
Struggling to reunite all the neighbors to vote against the planning permission, Fei feels torn apart by her sentiments towards protecting her childhood neighborhood and the empathy of others.
The harsh reality of adulthood makes her miss the carefree days more than ever.

The Weight of Goodbye
The Daughters of Time is inspired by the creator’s real-life experiences—growing up in the East and coming of age in the West. It explores the tension between clashing values and cultures, and the difficult balance of deciding what to hold on to and what to let go.
When Myth meets Reality
This story weaves together Shanghai’s most famous urban legends, real historical events, and the rich tapestry of Asian mythology—all through the eyes of a 21st-century female protagonist.
It offers an authentic glimpse into a city in the East, where modern struggles intertwine with ancient mysteries, enhanced by a touch of magical realism.

Works that Inspired Us
If you love narrative driven adventures like Night in the Woods, Kentucky Route Zero, Fire Watch, Oxenfree, you can expect to embark a story rich journey in this game too! The inspiration also comes from novels by Haruki Murakami, animation films by Studio Ghibli or Mamoru Hosoda.
Last but not least, the characters in the game, are inspired by the real women in life, especially their hardships, triumphs, and enormous contributions that are often ignored and underrepresented.
